LOC by Tati - Review & Swatches!

November 30, 2015 Fleur DeForce

2015 has officially been the year of YouTube domination. It's so incredible to be part of a such a dynamic and creative new industry. I'm constantly impressed by what my friends and peers are achieving, but especially so of the latest lady to drop her very own makeup collection.

If you guys don't already watch Tati (or GlamLifeGuru as she used to be known) and you are into your makeup, you need to get over to her channel ASAP. She seriously knows her stuff, posts incredible tutorials and no-nonsense reviews. To top that off, she's genuinely one of the nicest girls on the 'tube and has therefore become one of my best friends over the past three years.

Anyway, enough fan-girling from me! Tati has released a new collection with beauty sampling pioneers, Birchbox. It's called LOC (Love of Colour) and consists of five 'One and Done' creme eyeshadow sticks, and three mini matte lipsticks....

First off for the eyeshadows. The shade selection is seriously swoon-worthy, with the rose-gold 'On Point' stealing the show (in my opinion at least.) These are opaque semi-metallic cremes that blend nicely but once they've dried down, don't budge all day. I think they are really versatile because, as the name would suggest, you can use them alone and be done or you can blend them into the eyelid as a base and pair them with your other favourite powder shadows, where they last really nicely, add another element of shimmer and make a great primer.
L-R: On Point, Impress Me, Day Trip, Smoke Screen, Night Owl

Along with 'On Point', my other favourites are 'Night Owl' and 'Impress Me' (forever the neutral-lover!) the grey tone 'Smoke Screen' and golden 'Day Trip' are also lovely but don't suit my skin tone as well as the others do. These retail for $10 each (alas, they are currently only available on the US Birchbox site, but fingers crossed they will remedy that in the future - Birchbox, if you're reading this... we need them here too!)
L-R: First Kiss, Wildest Dreams, Glam Life

Moving on to the lips. The three shades Tati chose are a full-on glam red 'Wildest Dreams' (Hello T Swizzle reference, love it!) a deep plum 'Glam Life' and a nude-peach 'First Kiss'. I've been wearing Wildest Dreams most evenings since my collection arrived and I have to say, I adore it. It's the perfect tone, and the matte finish looks lovely yet doesn't completely dry out, so it still feels comfortable on the lips. I'd say it's the perfect in-between formula for those of you who love the look and staying power of a matte lip but don't like the uncomfortable dry-ness. The plum shade is simply stunning too and perfect for this time of year. The peach tone is a little too pale for me personally, but if you like a good peach-nude this will be right up your street! What's more, these little sticks are teeny tiny so are perfect for a clutch bag or small handbag for topping up on the go and they are only $8 - Total bargain!
I'm honestly so impressed with this line, and super proud of my friend - Congrats Tati!

The LOC collection by Tati is available from Birchbox.com now, you can also buy the full collection including a sharpener for $46.
